Public playspaces including splash pads and playgrounds are critical assets for healthy childhood development for kids and vital to the health and resilience of kids and communities. However, due to necessary COVID-19 public health measures, public playspaces across the United States closed this spring.
As water playgrounds across the country reopen, it is paramount that health and safety remain the priority, and the strategies to reopen splash pads and playgrounds be grounded in equity.
We’re excited to share that our partners at KABOOM! have established a Task Force including members from KABOOM!, NRPA, City Parks Alliance and many more organizations throughout the country. This team has created a set of actionable guidelines for safe reopening of public parks.
