Materials

Chlorine, salt, UV rays and intense heat have the potential to wreak havoc on spray park materials. That’s why Aquatix® uses only the most durable, corrosion-resistant and weatherproof materials to construct our water play environments. Explore our materials below to see how we keep every splash play location in tip-top shape from the first summer and beyond.

Acrylic

The way an acrylic water play feature reflects the sun is surely a sight to behold. Its opaque glow makes your water play environment that much more shiny and beautiful. But beyond appearances, acrylic is a strong, durable, vandal-proof material that will last for years with little maintenance. It is chemical-resistant and will not absorb water, making it excellent for both indoor and outdoor applications. Acrylic shapes help define the theme of your spray park, giving them character and flair. It can also be machined for custom shapes or engravings.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass is a durable, corrosion-resistant, lightweight but strong material that is the basis of our line of adorable spray park creatures and many of our other components. Not only can it be made into shapes and structures that can withstand great weight and impact, but it stands up to years of sun and chlorine exposure without staining, algae buildup or other unwanted effects. No grounding is required for fiberglass elements and since fiberglass does not expand or contract with weather conditions, it increases the durability of the finish coating.

AquaRock Small

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) means natural, rock-solid fun. It is great for creating a nature theme in your park, utilizing any of our line of GFRC products like AquaRocks, AquaFalls, Stone Clusters and more. GFRC has a rugged, rock-like texture that never feels artificial, and it hardens over time to deliver years of reliable fun in any environment. This rock-solid material is UV stable and can be used to produce a variety of water effects like arches, streams, sheets, columns and bubbling. Grounding is necessary for GFRC products.

Permalene®

Recycled Permalene® looks like new year after year. We use this strong 3/4 inch-thick material as accents or interactive paddles such as the fun, collaborative AquaGather station. We also use it as a railing on our classic climber structures and on the stair kick plates on our HydraHubs. Our Recycled Permalene® panels are 73 percent post-consumer material and the distinctive black core is the result of combining and recycling colored plastic household containers.

Recycled Plastic Lumber

Recycled Plastic Lumber (RPL) looks like wood but lasts longer and is easier to clean. It provides exceptional resistance to moisture, mildew, fading, insects, splintering and warping, and does not require waterproofing or staining. RPL boards are made from blends of post-consumer, pre-consumer and virgin HDPE (high-density polyethylene) resin with UV-resistant pigments to withstand sun and weather exposure. RPL is available in a variety of colors and textures to match any natural environment. Gives your spray park a natural, woodsy look.

Stainless Steel

With stainless-steel construction, your splash pad will stand up to the harshest weather conditions, UV rays and chemical exposure. Despite its higher upfront cost, its durability and low lifetime maintenance make it a great choice for spray park materials. What’s more, stainless steel can be painted with any one of the Aquatix paint colors to make it even more eye-catching. Most of our stainless steel structures are surface-mounted and interchangeable without requiring any additional equipment. Grounding is required.
