Bates Park Splash Pad

Project Overview

Bates Park Splash Pad offers a water play experience for all ages and abilities. Not only does the BucketTrio with Acrylic deliver a contemporary design aesthetic, but its three buckets randomly pour generous amounts of water onto waiting kids below. The HydroHelix with Acrylic carries on the unique design while engaging kids with the fun and complex water pattern as they twist the handle 360-degrees. Colorful HydroSpheres and the WhirlPad add to the social play, and ground sprays allow for game play as kids dodge or engage in the random sprays. Best of all, SkyWays® commercial shade structures were included along the perimeter to provide a space for visitors to cool down.

Video features the outdoor Aquatix splash pad by Landscape Structures at Bates Park in Des Moines Iowa.

[video: screen fades into a view of a park splash pad. Three slightly curved three-foot-tall pillars with colored globes at the top sit in the foreground. A tall pillar with a large circular roof panel with evenly placed holes with water streaming down from each hole sit just beyond the pillars with a town neighborhood scene in the background. Scene fades to a different angle view of the three-foot-tall pillars with globes on top. Each globe now spraying a single stream of water all at different angles. Scene fades to a focused view of the top of the tall pillar with circular roof panel. Water steadily streams from the evenly spaced holes on the outside of the circular roof panel. Scene fades to a ground sprayer as it sprays out a funnel of water upwards. Scene fades to three girls as they work together to spin the tall pillar with circular roof panel. All three girls hold onto the hand hold of the trunk of the pillar and slowly walk in a circle. As they move faster the water spraying from the circular roof panel falls farther and farther away from the girls. The camera focuses on the three girls as they spin the pillar. The girls smile and wince as they get wet from the falling water. Camera focuses up to the circular roof panel as it spins and sprays water. Scene switches to the three girls as they stand near a tall tree like designed water activity. Large posts reach up and slightly curve out like branches with suspended cherry shaped buckets. Water slowly trickles into the buckets causing them to fill and dump at unexpected times. The girls stand under the buckets waiting for them to tip. One girl adjusts her position under the falling water as one of the bucket tips. Camera switches to a full elevated view of the splay pad. The three girls continue to play under the dumping buckets. Scene switches back to a ground view of a girl as she covers her head with her hands as a full bucket is dump down onto her. Scene switches to the three girls sitting, kneeling, and standing by the funnel ground sprayer. They laugh and smile as they are sprayed by the water. Camera switches to a full bird’s eye view of the entire park and splash pad. Two large circular swings sit in the lower left of the scene while a pavilion shades a gathering area in the top left. The top right of the scene is the entire splash pad while the lower right of the scene three square shades sit over several circular picnic tables. Scene switches to a slightly elevated view as the camera slowly pans from right to left. A girl quickly walks over to the tall pillar with circular roof panel to play in its cascading water. Camera switches to a focused view of the dumping cherry buckets. One bucket tips, then another tips. Camera switches to a ground view up to one of the cherry buckets as it dumps water down onto the camera. As the water drenches to camera blurring the view the scene quickly switches to a close-up of two girls faces as they are splashed with the falling water from the cherry buckets. One of the girl’s squints as the water stops falling opening her mouth in a gasp to breath, she smiles and wipes the water from her face. Scene switches to a view of a girl as she covers the whole of streaming water from one of the three-foot-tall posts with the green globe on top. She pulls her hand away smiles and lifts both arms up in the air, she walks through the other to water streams from the other globe pillars. Scene switches to a top-down view of the cherry dump buckets as they fill and dump out the water. The camera focuses on the ground as a bucket dumps down and the water splashes on the concrete. Camera switches to a full side view of the three girls playing at the cherry dump buckets. One of the cherry dump buckets perfect pours down onto one of the waiting girls below. Scene fades to a areal view of the splash pad slowly panning away showing more and more of the neighborhood park. The scene fades to white as blue animated rain drops fall in the center of the screen. As the droplets fall the Aquatix logo appears. The Aquatix logo slides slightly to the left as a black line areas to the right of the logo. A second logo appears on the right reading “Outdoor Recreation Products”. Screen fades to black and the video ends.]
