According to Recreation Management magazine, splash pads have been the most sought-after amenity in recreation areas nearly every year since 2010.
While park and rec managers look for more economical ways to add aqua play to their facilities, the recreation design and manufacturing industry has stepped up with innovations that make splash pads more accessible for all budgets and locations.
Creative director of Landscape Structures® and Aquatix, Scott Roschi, notes that smaller, electricity-free splash pad packages are practical options for locations where cost and space were an initial barrier. As Aaron Skogen, Aquatix general manager, suggests, these packages also remove much of the complexity traditionally associated with splash pad design, simplifying installation and long-term maintenance.
Additionally, Roschi notes that splash play options are appearing in more unexpected places, such as in communities looking to reactivate their downtown areas after periods of declining engagement.
