Riverside Park – Kamloops

Project Overview

This destination splash pad at Riverside Park in Kamloops, British Columbia keeps kids splashing all day with endless water play options. For starters, the centerpiece HydraHub2 is a powerhouse of activities with slides, tunnels, play panels and interactive water effects that kids could spend hours exploring. But there’s more!  Nearby, a twistable HydroHelix lets kids shower themselves with patterns of spray and a FlashFlood drops a bucket of water from above. For curious minds, the unique AquaGather Station provides kids a way to manipulate and experiment with the flow of water like budding scientists. More options can be found, too: sporty kids can play water “tag” with the RocketStream, and then take a rest under the gentle shower of the WellSpring. And that’s just a sampling of the fun to be had at this truly epic splash pad at Riverside Park.

Video features the outdoor Aquatix splash pad by Landscape Structures at Riverside Park in British Columbia Canada.

[video: scene fades into a concrete park sign reading “Riverside Park Est. 1902”. Scene fades out and back into a full elevated view of a large splash pad surrounded by tall, lush trees with a small lake in the background. Scene switches to a ground view of the main play water interactive structure surrounded by other water activities. The camera focuses on the bottom splash zone of a tub slide off the main structure. A boy rides down splashing in the pooled water of the runnel. A boy stands on the top deck of the structure looking at two small dump buckets as they fill. Camera switches to a full view of the water play structure as children ride down a wide-open green slide. Camera focuses on a large overhead dump bucket on the top of the water play structure. It dumps down onto a curved piece of acrylic creating a wave of water to fall down into the splash zone. Camera pulls back for a full view of the water play structure as the dump bucket tips.]

[video: children slide down the wide green slide. Camera switches to a front view of the wide green slide as children take turn riding down into the landing pad. Scene switches to a boy as he holds the camera faces himself. As he walks around the water play structure the dump bucket pours down onto him in slow motion. Camera switches to a full elevated view of the entire splash pad as children play all over in the multiple water activities.]

[video: children stand by a bear sculpture spraying three streams of water from its snout. A boy plays at a large silver post with multiple interactive knobs allowing to adjust the flow of water from the interior of the pipe. A boy crouches down under the domed water spraying from a post. Two girls jump up and down together in the misting water from green and blue posts. Camera switches to a view up to the multiple roof panels of the water play structure. An interactive post shaped like a shepherds hook spraying water out the end is turn and manipulated by two boys on the structure. They turn the hook post to one of the roof panels with a paddle wheel in the center of it. As the water flows over the paddle wheel, it begins to spin. Camera focuses in on the paddle wheel as it spins faster. A girl peaks through some openings on the structure as she aims a water cannon. Scene switches to a group of children standing under a large flood bucket dropping a large gush of water in slow motion.]

[video: a boy tilts his head back as he walks under a stream of water on a water limbo station. A second boy takes his turn at the water limbo. Camera switches to a full elevated rotating view around the splash pad as children continue to play all around. A boy sits in between the legs of the seated bear sculpture. The camera focuses on the head of the bear as it sprays water from its nose. Camera switches to a view across the splash pad as water streams out and from many of the different activities. Camera focuses on a green acrylic topped post looking like a mushroom as it sprays water out the top through multiple streams. Scene switches to a group of children huddled together in the splash zone of the large flood bucket. Camera focuses on the water as it drops from the bucket onto the acrylic splash dispersion pad. Children stand in the splash zone as a wave of water falls on them. The children hold they hands out to try and catch the water. Scene switches back to the boy as he holds the camera facing himself. He smiles as a large amount of water rains down around him. Camera switches back to a focuses view of the water falling on the flood buckets acrylic dispersion pad as the water stops flowing.]

[video: a full bird’s eye view of the large splash pad filled with children. A young girl leans on a geometric pod spraying water from multiple nozzles. A girl elegantly jumps through a ground sprayer. Scene switches to a group of children playing in a water interactive table station. The camera focuses on one of the slanted panels of the table as a child shifts and moves small barriers to manipulate the flow of water. Scene fades out and back into a group of girls sitting on the bear structure. They smile and laugh as they play in the streams of water spraying from the bear’s nose. Scene fades out and back into three girls as they sit under a dome of water. They smile and wave to the camera in slow motion. Scene fades out and back into a boy as he rides down the green tube slide in slow motion. He makes a big splash in the slide’s runnel. Scene fades out and back into an elevated view of the main water play structure. Camera slowly backs up showing more of the splash pad filled with playing children. Screen begins to fade to white as blue animated rain drops fall in the center. As the droplets fall the Aquatix logo appears. The Aquatix logo slides slightly to the left as a black line appears to the right of the logo. A second logo appears on the right reading “Habitat Systems Incorperated”. Screen fades to black and the video ends.]
